Bystolic Medication Use

This medicine is a beta-blocker used to treat high blood pressure. It may also be used to treat other conditions as determined by your doctor.

Directions

Follow the directions for using this medicine provided by your doctor. This medicine may be taken on an empty stomach or with food. Take this medicine regularly to receive the most benefit from it. Taking this medicine at the same time each day will help you to remember. STORE THIS MEDICINE at room temperature between 68 and 77 degrees F (20 and 25 degrees C) away from heat, moisture, and light. CONTINUE TO TAKE THIS MEDICINE even if you feel well. Do not miss any doses. Do not suddenly stop taking this medicine without first talking with your doctor. You may have an increased risk of side effects (such as chest pain, irregular heartbeat, possible heart attack). If you need to stop this medicine or add a new medicine, your doctor may need to gradually lower your dose. IF YOU MISS A DOSE OF THIS MEDICINE, take it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. DO NOT take 2 doses at once.

SIDE EFFECTS that may occur while taking this medicine include dizziness; fatigue; headache; nausea; stomach pain; trouble sleeping. If they continue or are bothersome, check with your doctor. CHECK WITH YOUR DOCTOR AS SOON AS POSSIBLE if you experience unusual tiredness or weakness. CONTACT YOUR DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY if you experience chest pain or tightness; fainting; mental or mood changes; numbness or tingling of the hands; persistent or severe vision changes; red, swollen, blistered, or peeling skin; severe dizziness; shortness of breath or wheezing; sudden, unusual weight gain; swelling of the hands, ankles, or feet; unusual bruising or bleeding; unusually slow or irregular heartbeat; or very cold or blue fingers or toes. An allergic reaction to this medicine is unlikely, but seek immediate medical attention if it occurs. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include rash, itching, swelling, severe dizziness, or trouble breathing. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist.
